Tom was a 1953 Graduate of Hope High School characterized in the yearbook as "I
follow the path of least resistance." He participated in football his senior year, track
his sophomore through senior year, 4-H Club his junior year, and FFA as a
freshman. He attended several of the class reunions where his wife Hazel served as
a greeter

Tom Beck, beloved brother, husband, dad, grandfather, uncle, cousin and
friend to many went to meet Jesus face-to-face on Thursday evening, June 14,
2012. He was 77 years of age. Tom was born July 30, 1934 in Hope,
Arkansas. He was the seventh-born child of Marshall and Esther Mae Beck.
His eleven brothers and sisters meant the world to him. Tom graduated from
Hope High School in 1953.
Tom worked as a warehouseman in the Mail Order Division of Sears, Roebuck
and Company in downtown Dallas for 37 years. He and Hazel, his wife of 56
years, retired and moved to Weatherford in 1994. They relocated to Fort
Worth in 2007, due to Tom’s declining health. Tom was preceded in death by
his wife, Hazel, and daughter, Julia in 2011. He is survived by his
daughter, Jackie Barrett of Fort Worth; son-in-laws, Tony Barrett or Fort
Worth and Ben Drake of Red Oak; grandson, Dustin Drake of Red Oak;
granddaughters, Celeste Drake of Austin, Amy Barrett and Tori Barrett both
of Fort Worth; brother, Don Beck of Kaufman; sisters, Nellie Free of DeSoto,
Faye Frontz of Hope, Arkansas, and Ann Beck of Mansfield; and a myriad of
cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff and many friends at
Plaza Medical Center Cardiac Rehab for their care and support through Tom’s
numerous health crises. The people at Cardiac Rehab were like extended
family to Tom and Hazel. Last, the family wishes to express their gratitude to
the staff at Odyssey Hospice who cared so tenderly for Hazel, Julia and Tom
during their last days on Earth.
Tom willed his body for medical research to the University of Texas
Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. Interment was at the Forest Hill
Baptist Church Cemetery near Hope, Arkansas.
